A Few Steps Away From Infinity
Immersion with the Cistercian monk-farmers of the Abbey of Hauterive, in the canton of Fribourg, Switzerland. In this nine-century-old place, he monks cultivate both earth and spirit. All of them have taken vows of poverty and chastity and have committed to staying there until the end of their days. Each monk is a seeker of God, but also a human in love with life and nature. They repeat daily gestures and rituals that are over a thousand years old. Alternately peasants, herbalists, horticulturists, they get up every day at 4:00 am to intercede for the sufferings of the world. Without denying the difficulties linked to this way of life, these "seekers of God" cultivate a radiant joy of living.
