War Made In Switzerland
Switzerland is the cradle of neutrality and international law, yet weapons made in Switzerland can be found in battlefields throughout the world. Open source big data helped us track assault rifles, aircraft and armored tanks from the factory floor to armed conflicts. This report reveals how the Pilatus aircraft, originally designed for civilian transport, was actually used in Afghanistan for active intelligence. Or how Saudi soldiers armed with Sig Sauer rifles cracked down on Yemeni rebels. In Brazil, Swiss Piranha armored vehicules intended for peacekeeping were used by the special security forces besieging the favelas in Rio De Janeiro. And each time, history seems to repeat itself: "targeted" or "surgical" strikes do not prevent civilians from being killed.
