Children Of The Valley

The story of a young woman whispering into the ears of horses at over 2'000 meters above sea level in the stunning setting of a nature reserve in the Swiss Alps. Natasha was given her first horse by her farmer father when she was 5 years old. Since then, while her twin brother carries on the family tradition of livestock farming in the mountain pastures, Natasha continues her passionate interest in the study of animal behaviour. At the end of her studies, she embarks on the breeding of Lusitanian thoroughbreds, before creating the first summer pastures for horses high in the Swiss Valais. Every year, the forty or so horses she takes in regain the instinct of wild herds on pastures at between 1,400 and 2,400 meters above sea level. It is there, at the edge of a mountain lake and in a magnificent setting, that the horses will spend almost three months in semi-liberty. Superb images for a timeless ode to freedom.
