Immersion into the daily life of high mountain rescuers in the Swiss Alps. Down in the Air-Glaciers air base in the Valais canton, specialized teams are on call round the clock to rescue mountain accident victims wherever they are. In midwinter, the constant back and forth of helicopters can quickly switch from the ordinary injuries of children and tourists on ski slopes to deadly avalanches consuming the most experienced climbers. Everything can quickly escalate into dire situations. For the buried victims, every minute spent can mean survival or tragic death. The high mountain can be cruel and unpredictable even for the most seasoned rescuers. While mountain rescue response normally goes without damage, each mission has its risks. And those that go wrong leave deep scars in the rescuers' memory.
