My Dream House In Senegal
They had long dreamed of spending their retirement years in the sun. When the big day arrived, they took the leap and moved to Senegal. Numerous Westerners have bought homes in the ancient fishing village of Saly, which has now grown into a seaside resort. But leaving a modest lifestyle behind for one of ease and luxury has its pitfalls. How do their dreams correlate with reality ? How do they deal with the economic disparity between blacks and whites ? What do Africans think about them ? We meet a retired couple who are former city bus drivers, a working class woman who now runs a guesthouse, a farming couple and an unemployed computer specialist now in a polygamous marriage. They all invested in Africa to offer themselves a golden retirement. But would they make the same choice today ?
