Scams on online apartment rental platforms like Booking.com or Airbnb are legions there. All you have to do is use AI-powered tools to post fake photos and create a tempting advert, and you're in business. Airbnb verified the identity of the ad's author, then published it 30 minutes later. At Agoda and Vrbo, the ad was integrated within a few hours, without any checks. Only Booking.com sent a letter to the accommodation address for verification. And when we rented imaginary flat ad and told the platforms about the scam, AirBnB didn't even bother the scammer. Only Vrbo platform detected the trap and deleted the account 12 hours after publication.
