Eternal No More: The Death Of Glaciers
Nearly 30 glaciers are on thin ice in Switzerland, including the Bella Tola glacier in Valais, which has vanished without a trace. This accelerated melting, fueled by climate change, is turning alpine identity upside down. The Swiss ice grotto at Furka Pass, beneath the Rhône Glacier, is now nothing more than a heap of tarpaulins. Tourism, hydroelectricity, and the entire ecosystem are feeling the heat. As for local residents, it's hard to imagine a future without eternal glaciers.
