My School Is A Forest (1/2)
Can children learn under a tree the same way they would sitting on a chair in a classroom? Spending 100% school time out in the forest: is this just possible? And to what benefit? For one year, a project never before seen in Switzerland allowed kindergarten and elementary school children to learn in, through and with nature. As the seasons went by, the children were able to discover, observe and learn about the forest ecosystem to better discover themselves and become better learners in the process. Environmental education, sharing and creativity added up to a great deal of open-mindedness among themselves, raising a troubling question.
