Game On, Weight Gone, Outsmarting Obesity

Changing your bad eating habits without breaking a sweat by siimply playing on your phone? That's the promise of an app developed by neuroscientist Lucas Spierer from the University of Fribourg, Switzerland, and a team of developers. A cutting-edge digital therapy aimed at those who've been fighting the battle of the bulge. Set in an American diner, players must pick healthy foods as fast as they can while resisting unhealthy options. By tapping into the brain's motivation and reward systems, each time a player holds back from selecting an unhealthy food in the game, that food gradually loses its appeal in real life. As a result, resisting temptation becomes easier in the real world. Future developments could tackle addictions to tobacco or alcohol. Is that health app a game changer?
