Chernobyl, My Beloved Plant
A decade after the April 28, 1986 catastrophe, workers from the Chernobyl nuclear power plant return to the scene and confront the ruins of their former lives. Almost all of them were relocated following the nuclear disaster. To replace Pripyat, Soviet Russia built Slavutych in record time, a new town that was also massively contaminated. Most workers look back on their plant and their lives back then with nostlagia, despite illness, children's health issues and the deaths they're burying. This investigation into the chilly collective denial of a community, teaches us how the duty to remember is still as vital as ever.
