They're swamped by demand for their services, from patients who have often exhausted the possibilities afforded by conventional medicine.There is growing scientific interest in the real or supposed powers of healers. Doctors often have no choice but to concede their effectiveness. But when the complaint isn't pain but ghosts, wandering spirits and other phenomena, it can be difficult to find the magic cure in a shadowy world in which quacks and crooks rub shoulders with selfless beings able to perform inexplicable and spectacular acts of healing.
