Veterinarians commit suicide four times more than the rest of the population. According to a recent study in France, burnout is decimating the ranks of the profession. Faced with enormous demands from pet owners, our journalists give a voice to several veterinarians who nearly succumbed. Overwork, stress, pressure from Google reviews, difficult relationships with pet owners... Added to these elements is a societal phenomenon that aggravates the situation: the changing status of our four-legged companions. Having become full-fledged family members, they are sometimes considered, cherished and treated as such. The market for medical services and secondary products is exploding, along with associated costs, for owners who cannot always afford it financially. An investigation into our relationship with domestic animals and the caregivers who do everything to keep them in good health.
