When Home Becomes Hell
Many women victims of domestic violence don't dare ask for help, fearing for their lives. The risk of femicide is actually higher after a separation or during pregnancy. For victims, walking out the door is an incredibly difficult step to take. Support structures and shelters are either few and far between or completely overwhelmed. And legal mechanisms seem insufficient to give female victims a genuine sense of security. Despite restraining orders and suspended child visitation rights, perpetrators continue to threaten their victims, often slipping through the cracks of the system. Emma, Chloé, and Véronique have agreed to share their stories.
